Philly's music scene is awesome

I'm planning to visit friends in Philadelphia soon, so I decided to look up what concerts are coming up there. Just this weekend alone, you can see country star Jerrod Niemann, Walk the Moon of "Anna Sun" fame, Fitz and the Tantrums, or J. Roddy Walston and the Business. (I listened to J. Roddy Walston's Lollapalooza set live on the radio, and I recommend checking it out. Really great audience banter and solid piano pounding rock.)

I'm jealous of all the concerts in Philly! I wish Baltimore could recruit acts like that consistently. We had a good start with summer's WTMD First Thursdays Concerts in the Park. The Hold Steady, Hamilton Leithauser, and local band Among Wolves closed out the series with a bang.

But a couple of shining stars can't compare catching live acts every week at venues like WXPN's intimate World Cafe Live, the historic Theater of the Living Arts, and rocking Electric Factory. The music scene in Philadelphia is unbeatable. It's a good excuse for a visit.
